About Me

Hi There!
Hey you!
Welcome to my little corner of the internet. If you’ve landed here, you’re probably a fellow foodie, a curious soul, or someone craving more than just a good meal, and I’m so glad you're here. Let me tell you a bit about the girl behind the apron.
From Kitchen Helper to Culinary Explorer
My name is Benter Beryl, but most people call me Chef B. I’m a Kenyan-born chef, creative, daughter, sister, friend, and now, entrepreneur.
I grew up in a family of six as the firstborn of four siblings, and trust me, being the eldest teaches you how to multitask real quick! I was that kid who always wanted to stir the pot, taste the sauce, or roll out chapati dough with my mum. I didn’t know it then, but my love for food wasn’t just a hobby, it was my future calling.
My culinary path officially began at Boma International Hospitality College in Nairobi, where I learned the professional side of food and service. That’s where I started sharpening not just my knives, but my confidence. I later pursued my Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts at BHMS in Switzerland, and let me tell you, living and learning in the land of cheese and chocolate? A dream.
But it didn’t stop there. I went on to complete a J-1 program at The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe in California, working in a fast-paced, high-end kitchen that tested everything I had learned and showed me I was made for more.
Globally Trained, Locally Rooted
Traveling and working abroad gave me global flavor, but my heart? It’s always been here in Kenya. I wanted to come back home and pour all that knowledge, creativity, and hustle into something that felt real something mine. That’s how Piquing Palate was born. A love child of culinary dreams, a sprinkle of art, and a big serving of purpose.
So What’s Piquing Palate All About?
It’s more than a food business. It’s my lifestyle, my canvas, and my daily source of joy (and sometimes stress, let’s be honest 😅). Under the Piquing Palate umbrella, I offer:
Personal chef services (I cook, you relax), Weekly meal prepping for families, professionals & wellness lovers, Samosas, cookies, spring rolls, and quick snacks under Pique Quick, Small event catering for intimate groups , Travel-ready private chef services because food follows love & adventure
Outside the Kitchen
When I’m not in the kitchen?
I’m probably Sketching or painting on Procreate (my happy place!), Editing videos for my YouTube channel, Taking long swims to clear my mind, Watching food shows I already know the ending to, Or obsessing over aesthetic shopping hauls I tell myself are for the brand
I’m a sucker for pretty things, quiet mornings, good music, and deep convos over tea.
Why I Blog
This blog is a reflection of my heart. It's where I share recipes, thoughts, stories, experiments gone wrong (and right), and little sparks of creativity that don't always make it to Instagram. I want it to feel like you’re sitting across from me at my table, chatting, laughing, maybe sipping hibiscus tea, and sharing bits of life.
I’m here to inspire you, whether that’s to try a new recipe, start your own thing, or simply romanticize your everyday a little more.
Final Thoughts
I don’t have it all figured out, but I do know this:
You don’t need a perfect plan to start. Just a little courage, a lot of faith, and something you love.
Piquing Palate is my start, and I hope it inspires yours.
Thank you for being here.
Now go explore the blog, try something new, and don’t forget to tag me @piquingpalate when you recreate a dish!
Crave. Savor. Repeat.
